RRB ALP

The RRB ALP exam is to appoint Assistant Loco Pilots for Indian Railways. Applications can be submitted by candidates having ITI, diploma, or engineering degrees. CBT Stage 1, CBT Stage 2, Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), and Document Verification are the stages for selection. ALPs help Loco Pilots in running trains safely and efficiently. RRB Junior Engineer (JE) 2025 Exam Syllabus

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT 1)

Mathematics: Number systems, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, LCM, HCF, ratio and proportion, percentages, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, elementary statistics, square root, age calculations, calendar and clock, pipes and cisterns.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, alphabetical and number series, coding and decoding, mathematical operations, syllogism, jumbling, Venn diagrams, data interpretation and sufficiency, conclusions and decision-making, similarities and differences, analytical reasoning, classification, directions, statement-arguments, and assumptions.

General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian geography, Indian culture, and Indian history of India, including the freedom struggle, Indian polity and constitution, Indian economy, environmental issues related to India and the world, sports, and general technological and scientific developments.

General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences until the 10th standard CBSE syllabus.

Stage 2: Computer-Based Test (CBT 2)

General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history, Indian polity and constitution, Indian economy, environmental issues, sports, general scientific and technological developments.

Physics and Chemistry: Principles up to the CBSE 10th standard syllabus.

Computer Fundamentals and Applications: Structure of a computer, input/output devices, storage devices, network, operating system like Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet and e-mail, website and web browsers, viruses for computers.

Fundamentals of Environment and Control of Pollution: Fundamentals of the environment, adverse impacts of pollution in the environment, measures to control pollution, global warming, acid rain, depletion of the ozone layer.

Technical Skills: Specific topic of the discipline upon which the candidate has chosen (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, etc.).

RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) 2025 Syllabus

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT 1)

Stage 2: Computer-Based Test (CBT 2)

Part A:

Mathematics: Advanced mathematical topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: Complicated problem-solving, data interpretation, and logical reasoning.

Basic Science and Engineering: Engineering drawing, units and measurements, mass, weight, density, work, power, energy, speed, velocity, heat, temperature, basic electricity, levers, simple machines, occupational safety and health, environmental education, IT literacy.

General Awareness of Current Affairs: In-depth current affairs, significant national and global affairs.

Part B:

Trade Subjects: Subject-specific to the trade the candidate has opted for, including the practical and theoretical aspects required to perform the job.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

On February 28, 2025, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is yet to announce the official notifications for the RRB Junior Engineer (JE) and Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) exams of 2025. Even though there has not been an announcement, relying on the standards of previous years, future applicants can anticipate the following eligibility criteria

RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality:

  • Indian nationals
  • Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India prior to January 1, 1962, for the purpose of settling down there.
  • People of Indian origin who have come from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African nations, and Vietnam for the purpose of permanent settlement in India.
     Age Limit:
  • Minimum: 18 years.
  • Maximum: 33 years.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years.
  • SC/ST: 5 years.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 to 15 years, depending upon the category.

    Educational Qualifications:

  • Matriculation/SSLC (10th Standard) along with ITI from authorized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in concerned trades.
  • Matriculation/SSLC and Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in respective trades.
  • Three-year diploma in mechanical/electrical/electronics/automobile engineering or combinations of different engineering fields from a reputed institution in place of ITI.

Medical Standards:

  • The candidates should fulfill the prescribed medical standards, such as visual acuity and general fitness, as laid down by the RRB.
RRB Junior Engineer (JE) Eligibility Criteria:

  • For Depot Material Superintendent: Three-year diploma in engineering of any branch from a known university/institute.
  • For Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics and Chemistry with 55% marks from a recognized university/institute.

Medical Standards:

  • The candidates should fulfill the prescribed medical standards, such as visual acuity and general fitness, as laid down by the RRB.
